"An extraordinary epic of theisea. A suspenseful andithrilling film..." -Gene Shalit, The Today Show
Harrison Ford delivers one of his most powerful performances in this riveting action-drama inspired by a true story.
At the height of the 1960's Cold War, Russia launches its flagship nuclear submarine, the K-19. In command is iron willed Captain Alexei Vostrikov (Ford). Also aboard is the popular executive officer Mikhail Polenin (Liam Neeson), who clashes with Vostrikov but shares his unwavering patriotism. As the K-19 heads toward American waters, a shocking discovery is made: the vessel's nuclear reactor system is leaking, imperiling the men and the sub's missiles. With time running out, the fearless Vostrikov and his crew join together as brave countrymen who must decide the true meaning of duty, honor and sacrifice.

Growing up, Mr. Ford has been my favorite movie actor, but a string of mistakes and bad movies (What Lies Beneath, Random Hearts, Six Days Seven Nights) had caused me to get less and less excited about each of his movies, and when K-19 was released over this summer to so-so reviews and a horrible opening weekend, I decided to wait and catch t

Very scary topic and time.....well done film. - 3.75 out of 5 (12/17/2002)

There are some seriously intense action sequences that, for some reason, the crew is speaking almost completely with accent. However, the funny thing is that the one guy I thought I might have the hardest time seeing as a Russian, Ford, is the most believeable one of them all. I kept seeing Liam and wondering what an Irishman was doing on a Soviet sub... Well, the story is awesom
